Ribblesdale Win Second Prize at the Yorkshire Show 2012 for their Unpasteurised Goat Cheese

We have entered three competitions this year: the Yorkshire Show, which took place earlier this month and for the first time under Iona’s ownership, we entered 6 cheeses into the Nantwich Cheese show.  Three of the six won a Gold, Silver and Very Highly Recommended for our Natural Rinded Goat, Superior Goat, our new goat gouda and our Original Goat respectively.  The results can be found here.

Before Nantwich, we won a second place prize for our Unpastuerised natural Rinded Goat cheese.  It has a thin, natural rind and a pale, creamy texture, slightly crumbly with oodles of flavour – not a goaty flavour, but an elegant and subtle flavour.

For the first time in a long time, we have not entered the Great Taste Awards, simply, because at £40+VAT per entry, it is too expensive.  This is a massive price hike from last year and far in excess of any other cheese show entry fees, so for 2012, we will not have the opportunity to win any gold stars at the Great Taste Awards.

The final show we are entering is the British Cheese Awards, so we will see how we fare there.
