Today was the day that we had our little outing to the Wensleydale Heifer and a jolly time was had by all.
We had made arrangements for our refrigerated transport chappie, Iain, to pick up Monday’s orders from a secret location, put the phone on answerphone – apologies to anyone who tried to call us, locked up and we set off.
Lydia had duck spring rolls to start, followed by
chicken and the hugest chocolate knickerbocker glory. Mark and I both had retro prawn cocktail with rose marie sauce with cognac cream: nice but the sauce was a bit light. Mark also had chicken and a lovely looking Christmas pudding.
Stu had fish cakes and the hugest piece of gorgeous looking crispy battered fish I have ever seen and the Christmas pudding.
I had a nice piece of hake with creamed leeks and a little dainty pan of mash. To follow, I had the creme brulee in my quest for the perfect creme brulee which I once came across at a fab restaurant called the White Onion on Upper St, near where I used to live in London.
Much laughter ensued as we tried to think of a name for one of two new cheeses to be launched in 2012 and a great deal of merriment about laundry services….don’t ask. All in all, a great venue, good service and very nice food.
